Hier versuchen wir Licht ins Dunkel zubringen!
The Brändi Dog game is typically played by four people. Two people form a team and play together (exception see Special Rule for 2, 3, and 5 Players).
Similar to the "Eile mit Weile" game, the objective is to take your own marbles out of the kennel and bring them from the start to the finish line. However, it is much more exciting because not only luck but also tactics and strategy play an important role.
During the game, you are supported by your partner and sent back home by opponents. The marbles are moved by playing cards.
It is not possible for an individual player to win. If a player has all their own marbles in the finish line, they help their partner to get their marbles to the finish line.
Only when all eight marbles of a team are in the finish line, the team wins.
These cards can be divided into different moves in certain cases. The player with good cards who divides them wisely and cooperates skillfully with their partner will win. Advising each other and revealing the card values to each other is prohibited throughout the game.
Two people sit diagonally opposite each other, playing together as a team. Each player has their four marbles in the kennel. One person is designated to distribute the cards until the end of the game, and they are the "Dealer." The two sets of cards, 55 cards each, are shuffled together. The "Dealer" deals the cards counterclockwise.
1st Round: 6 Cards
2nd Round: 5 Cards
3rd Round: 4 Cards
4th Round: 3 Cards
5th Round: 2 Cards
Then it starts again with 6 cards, 5, 4, 3, 2, 6, 5, 4, etc.
The players pick up the cards. In each round, the partners exchange one card secretly. The exchanged cards should enable clever moves. For example, if your partner still has all marbles in the kennel, you can help them get to the start with a KING, ACE, or JOKER.
The person sitting to the right of the "Dealer" starts the game. They place a card face up in the middle of the playing field and move the marble according to the card value.
The next player follows with their move, and so on. The round ends when all players have placed all cards. If a player cannot move anymore because no move is possible with the corresponding card values, they are out for this round. Their cards expire and are placed in the middle.
The game start moves to the next person in counterclockwise direction after each round.
With the ACE, KING, or JOKER cards, you can get one marble to the start. Marbles played from the kennel to the start block the passage for all (including your own) marbles. Additionally, this marble is protected and cannot be sent back home.
To bring the last marble of a game to the finish line, not all cards need to be used. However, the last card used must be played out. Therefore, it can happen that this marble has to make several honorary rounds until the score fits.
If a marble, even your own, is overtaken by a "whole or split SEVEN," it goes back to the kennel.
Marbles played from the kennel to the start cannot be overtaken (blocked). Otherwise, overtaking is allowed.
With a JACK, you must exchange one of your own marbles with a marble from an opponent or partner, even if it is a disadvantage. Marbles that are on the own start, in the finish line, or still in the kennel for the first time cannot be exchanged. If only your own marbles are on the way and there is no other possible move, the JACK can be played without effect at the end.
Each card must be played and the card value must be executed. The compulsion to move may lead to disadvantageous steps under certain circumstances. For example, if you need a FIVE for the finish line, but your next card is a SIX, it means that this marble must make an honorary round.
To reach the finish line, your own start must be touched at least twice, forward or backward. The finish line must always be entered from the start. Skipping and driving back in the finish line is not allowed. The finish line is filled from the inside to the outside. The SEVEN card is particularly useful for the finish line because the SEVEN can be divided into individual values.
1st Move: Use an ACE, KING, or JOKER to reach the start.
2nd Move: Move backward with a FOUR.
3rd Move: Enter the finish line with a FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, or EIGHT.
If the marble is one to four fields after the start, it is worth moving back with a FOUR. In the next move, you will enter the finish line directly from or after the start.
If a player has all marbles in the finish line, they help their partner. (A SEVEN can be divided to bring the last own marble to the finish line. The remaining, unused points can then be used to move one of the partner's marbles.) The player without marbles continues to receive cards, and now the team plays together for the victory. Especially in the final phase, foresight of both partners is very important.
To bring the last marble of a game to the finish line, not all cards need to be used. However, the last card used must be played out. Therefore, it can happen that this marble has to make several honorary rounds until the score fits.
